Arthur Board of Education
Regular Meeting – December 9, 2009
The Truth In Taxation Hearing and Regular meeting of the Arthur Board of Education was called to order by President Linda Collins at 7:00 p.m. in the Unit Office with the following members and administrators present: Linda Collins, Scott Daily, Monica Miller, Jason Ray, Steffanie Seegmiller, Doug Kitchen, Buck Condill, Gary Alexander and Travis Wilson. Ronnie Cole arrived at 7:40 p.m.
Truth In Taxation Hearing – Superintendent Wilson discussed the levy and there had been no changes in the levy since presented in November. He discussed information on the financial future.
Motion was made by Jason Ray, seconded by Doug Kitchen, to approve the 2009 Tax Levy (Payable in 2010) as presented. Motion carried unanimously by roll call vote.
The Truth In Taxation Hearing was conducted. Board adjourned the Truth In Taxation meeting and began the regular meeting.
Communications – Thank you note from the Green Family for allowing them to farm the school’s plot.
Public Comment
None.
Motion was made by Scott Daily, seconded by Doug Kitchen to approve the minutes of the November 11, 2009 meeting as presented. Motion carried unanimously by roll call vote.
Motion was made by Jason Ray, seconded by Monica Miller, to approve the monthly bills as presented. Motion carried unanimously by roll call vote.
Motion was made by Monica Miller, seconded by Jason Ray, to approve the monthly Treasurer’s Report as presented. Motion carried unanimously by roll call vote.
ELEMENTARY REPORT
Principal Condill discussed the following items in his report:
1. Amish Reps Winter Meeting – December 2
2. Book Totals – 13,314 (6,686 to go)
3. 5-12 Winter Concert – December 8
4. 5th and 6th Grade Basketball – Schedules
5. Canned Food Drive
6. RTI Update (Response to Intervention)

SECONDARY REPORT
Principal Alexander discussed the following items in his report:
1. Activity Fund
2. Basketball
3. Band/Chorus Concert

6. Illinois Music Educators’ Association

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT
Superintendent Wilson discussed the following items in his report:
1. District Planning Session – Thank you to everyone
who participated. Goal Setting Meeting in 2010.
2. Broadway Article – State Revenues are Down
3. Younger Kids Start 1st Grade
4. Chris Koch Letter
5. Farm Tenant – Renew 4 year lease – cash rent
- $260.00 acre
6. Earning for Learning - $272.98
Press Plus Policy Issue 68 – Superintendent Wilson recommended Policy Issue #68 be adopted.
Motion was made by Scott Daily, seconded by Doug Kitchen, to adopt Press Policy Issue 68 as presented. Motion carried unanimously by roll call vote.
Timm Trust Committee – Mr. Wilson publicly thanked the Timm Trust Committee for providing the district a lap top lab.
Board Comment
The Convention was discussed – keynote speakers were great. This was an outstanding year and everyone appreciates the district giving them the opportunity to attend the convention.
Closed Session – Motion was made by Ronnie Cole, seconded by Jason Ray, to go into closed session for the purpose of discussing employment of district personnel. Motion carried unanimously by roll call vote.
Motion was made by Monica Miller, seconded by Jason Ray, to return to open session. Motion carried unanimously by roll call vote.
Motion was made by Monica Miller, seconded by Jason Ray, to approve the minutes of the closed session meeting. Motion carried unanimously by roll call vote.
Motion was made by Monica Miller, seconded by Scott Daily, to employ Amanda Giovanni as a temporary special education one-on-one aide. Motion carried unanimously by roll call vote.
Motion was made by Monica Miller, seconded by Jason Ray, to employ Meredith Webb as 5/6 Assistant Girls Basketball Coach. Motion carried unanimously by roll call vote.
Motion was made by Doug Kitchen, seconded by Monica Miller, to employ Jennifer Scott as Junior High Scholastic Bowl Coach. Motion carried unanimously by roll call vote.
